Thrifter Seller Fees and Commissions Schedule

For sellers: Here’s how fees work when you sell on Thrifter. You only pay when something sells — there are no listing fees or monthly subscriptions.

Base Fee Structure

  • Commission: Thrifter charges an 8% commission on the total sale amount (item price + shipping) before tax.

  • Payment processing: A payment processing fee (e.g. a percentage + fixed amount per transaction) is also deducted from your sale. You see both the 8% commission and the payment processing fee on your breakdown.

Your payout = subtotal minus 8% commission minus payment processing fee. Tax is added on top for the buyer; we collect it and handle remittance.

What the Buyer Pays

  • Subtotal = item price + shipping (you set the shipping price).

  • Tax = Sales tax is based on the state where the item is shipped (buyer’s shipping address). We use applicable US state (and local) rates for clothing and apparel. Tax applies to the item price only, not shipping. Some states have no tax on clothing; others have thresholds or different rates. The amount is shown at checkout before payment; we collect and remit it on your behalf.

  • Total charge = subtotal + tax (based on shipping state).

What You Receive

  • Your payout = subtotal minus 8% commission minus payment processing fee.

  • The 8% commission covers our marketplace services: secure payments, customer support, and buyer protection. The payment processing fee is the cost of processing the buyer’s payment and is deducted from your sale.

Example

  • Item price: $25, Shipping: $5 → Subtotal = $30

  • Shipped to California (example): tax on item price at CA rate → e.g. $2.17

  • Buyer pays: $30 + $2.17 = $32.17

  • Your deductions: 8% commission = $2.40; payment processing (e.g. 2.7% + $0.30 on the charge) ≈ $1.17

  • You receive: $30 − $2.40 − $1.17 = $26.43 (example; actual amount depends on the transaction)

When This Applies

The same 8% commission applies to:

  • Buy It Now purchases

  • Accepted offers (when a buyer accepts your price or you accept theirs)

  • Bundles (multiple items in one order; 8% on the combined item + shipping total)

No Hidden or Extra Fees

  • No listing fees

  • No buyer feed

  • No subscription or monthly fees

  • You pay 8% commission + payment processing when an item sells; both are shown clearly on your sale breakdown.

Refunds

We support full refunds for eligible cases (e.g. item not received, disputes). When a refund is issued, the sale is reversed and no commission is kept on that transaction.

Seeing Your Earnings

In the app, open the sale in Manage sale (or your earnings/balance screen) to see the full breakdown: subtotal, commission (8%), payment processing fee, tax (if any), and your payout.
